Restaurants in Munich | Afghan dinner at Lemar

I have to admit that I prefer oriental restaurants in their home country to Asian ones in Europe. Probably because there they are much more authentic. This is why I’m always super happy when I discover a new place. A couple of weeks ago I’ve showed you my favourite oriental food stall Sababa on Viktualienmarkt. A review of my favourite Afghan restaurant Chopan at Münchner Freiheit is still missing up here. But today I’ll introduce you to Lemar – a small oriental palace in the heart of Schwabing. Palace may be a little bit too exaggerated but the various seating areas remind me of that.        Afghan restaurant Munich Lemar Entering Lemar you may smell the scents of the Orient – cinnamon, cardamom, fresh mint and coriander. I felt at ease: pastel coloured walls, colourful pillows and tables decorated with mosaic. The ambience is comfortable and inviting.        Lemar Food & Drinks The menu is clearly presented and next to meat and fish dishes you’ll also find a great variation of vegetarian ones. I chose the braised lamb with eggplant, rice with vegetables and raisins. The lamb was tender and the eggplants melted on my tongue. Along with […]

7 years The Golden Bun | favorite looks 2014-2016

7 years TGB. In conclusion of my 7 years of blogging I’ve got a little collection of my favourite looks from 2014-2016. The first part of 2010-2013 was already up here. I’m questioning myself where my love for high heels and pretty dresses has gone? A dear reader pointed that out. Contradictorily, my 20-year-old me wore more elegantly than I do now. Conny has recently written a nice article about elegancy and why it is almost frowned upon if someone dresses classy. But same for me – I prefer my ripped jeans and some sneakers a lot more. However, I’ll try to pull out my more elegant pieces once in a while. I still have a huge love for fashionable statement coasts, such as my green coat from HossIntropia or my yellow flower coat from Hallhuber. I couldn’t miss both pieces. I’ve promised you to tell what will be next up here on the blog. We’re currently working on a new look for the blog. The relaunch – The Golden Bun 3.0 is coming very soon. Moreover, my website for all my photography i.e. portfolio, gallery etc. will launch too. Until July it will remain wanderlusty here on the blog and […]

I’m back from Vietnam and I’ve just finished editing all the beautiful pictures. I’ve got so many great impressions for you. But first – the Thailand posts are still in the line. Therefore, I’ll leave you with a quick outfit post from Vietnam today. Luckily, my Oasis order arrived just in time before I left. I will show you more of the stunning pieces I got in the next post. Isn’t this strap dress with flower print too gorgeous? It fit perfectly into the Vietnamese hilly landscape. I’ve already shown you the rest of my haul in my monthly recap here. On that day we visited the beautiful Bái Đính Pagoda, which was one of my favorites. Of course, more impressions of that will follow soon! I’m currently in Strasbourg and will fly to Bordeaux this evening. Two exciting days with Grey Goose are coming up so make sure to follow on Social Media! However, I can’t wait to be finally back home at the end of this week! The three weeks of traveling were quite exhausting (don’t worry I won’t complain about that). I’ll talk to you soon again & have a great start into the week!        […]

Phang Nga – discover Thailand without tourists

Thailand is incredibly diverse – Bangkok culturally and culinarily exciting, the high North a famous hiking paradise and the relaxing places in the South of Thailand. All this makes it to one of the most famous travel destinations for German tourists. But the country has one big problem – mass tourism. It destroys beautiful islands, coral reefs, are suffering from extinction, local people torture elephants only with the aim that tourists can ride on them – awful. But it was time for me to finally discard this stereotype and to look for real travel moments! For example do you remember my travel to China four years ago? These are exactly the impressions I’m looking for when traveling. The trip to the region Phang Nga was exactly what I sought – Thailand without tourists. Moreover the trip was focused on sustainability. Sustainable traveling in Thailand? Oh yes, it’s possible. Let me tell you how. To be honest, there is so much to tell. Where should I begin? Thailand without tourists Khao Lak, Phang Nga Together with four dear blogger colleagues I flew from Munich via Bangkok in the South to Phuket. From there our driver took us to the 1,5 hours away Khao Lak […]

Authentic Thailand | Talae Nok – living with locals

Green palms, tropical weather, lonely beaches, a small fishing village, incredibly welcoming people. I could add more features here. Our stay at the Talae Nok Village was one of the most beautiful experiences in Phang Nga. One of my best travel experiences. Living with locals Talae Nok Community Talae Nok is a small Muslim community, whose village was also hit by the Tsunami in 2004. The remote beach and the retreat to the inland are all consequences by the natural disaster. Even though many of the 170 inhabitants are still fishing people many amongst them are scared of the beach. 22 houses were rebuilt in a short time with the help of the government. Moreover, they have many programs to give them work. For example batik dying, soap making and more. Since it is a Muslim community you should follow a couple of rules: dress appropriately covering your shoulders and clothing until knee length no alcohol allowed One evening they also dressed us up in their traditional headscarf. You should have seen the women’s faces. They were so happy and appreciated this gesture so much! We were warmly welcomed in the village by our host families. The women prepared a […]

#ExpeditionOutdoorLife | Backpacking in Thailand

It’s not my first time that I backpacked while travelling. Bali two years ago was my first time and since then a couple of more travels followed. I find some countries much more relaxed to visit with a large backpack. Before my departure Tatonka sent me one of their Yukon 60+10 Women trekking backpacks to test. Here are a couple of reasons why I love backpacks in general.        Backpacking in Thailand You don’t over pack! I always packed way too much useless stuff. For my Thailand trip I packed around 15 kg and due all the fruit I bought I came home with 20 kg. 15 kg is the maximum weight I can carry and 20 kg was already way too heavy. However, a good backpack has comfortable waist straps which shift the weight I’m better organized in my backpack. My Yukon 60+10 is divided into three parts. The lower bag is perfect for shoes and anything heavy. You can open the middle part like a normal gym bag and there’s a third part on top, where you can put lighter stuff. Roads may be bumpy and you don’t want to pull your luggage through mud etc. […]

French morning in Cognac

Bonjour! I’m currently working on my article of my great experience with Grey Goose in Cognac. Before that I quickly wanted to share these beautiful impressions with you. Since I arrived super late in the night I didn’t get a chance to see the beautiful Le Logis manor house and surroundings by daylight. Still jetlagged I’ve woken up quite early in the morning. The sun was about to rise behind the hills and the sun flares were just perfect. My photographer heart wishes for sunrises like these every day! Well, France is just too beautiful and will always have a special place in my heart! Enjoy the pictures! The origin of Grey Goose

Vodka isn’t made out of Cognac, is it? Why have you been in Cognac with Grey Goose? Isn’t Vodka usually produced in Russia? I knew that Grey Goose vodka originally comes from France but I didn’t know the connection between Cognac and Vodka. This made me even more curious to travel into the history of the premium vodka Grey Goose and breathe in some French air.        Le Logis Grey Goose The beautiful manor house Le Logis Grey Goose is located half an hour away from the Atlantic coast. The charming little town Cognac is in a half hour distance and you’ll reach Bordeaux after a 1,5 hours’ drive. The manor house dates back to the 16th century and is full of history. The French law protects many of old manor houses, which makes it difficult for renovations. That is why the house had been renovated basing on the historic stile. This is exactly the type of vacation house for a French holiday. The French charm will lead you through the whole villa and is combined with retro glam elements. All in the colors of Grey Goose, of course! The kitchen, where we all met for breakfast, was […]

Our long weekend is coming slowly to an end. Tuesday and Friday were such beautiful days with summerly temperatures. We shot this look super early in the morning even though it was already super hot. However, it got super cold again yesterday and I was lucky that I’ve brought this light down padded Bomboogie jacket. This look is more casual with stylish spring boots from EMU and a hip jeans from Colloseum. Irina and I spent some very cool days in Vienna. My highlights were definitely the visit of the MuseumsQuartier, which I highly recommend you on our visit. I’m a huge fan of museums! But more within this week. We’ll have breakfast for the last time now and then I need to jump on the train again! Enjoy your Sunday!

Back in my own bed & sneak peek into my new room!

I’m finally back in South Tyrol. I’ve spent the past weeks almost every single night in a different hotel. You can’t imagine how good it feels to sleep in my own bed. Speaking of which I’ve got a couple of impressions of my “bed sit”. Well, the term isn’t that correct as I call it more my temporary base. About a year ago we moved to my mum’s parent’s house and […]

Bolzano but different! On #ExpeditionCityLife with Tatonka

Bolzano but different! Back home I could finally shoot this street style campaign together with Bastian. For those of you who have already been in Bolzano know the pretty old town. But how many of you know the industrial, rough part of it? The South of the city is landmarked by a typical industrial zone. Old walls were enhanced by cool graffitis from well-known artists and amateurs. It’s a long time that […]

Restaurants in Munich | Italian dinner at Vinpasa

I’m not the biggest fan of Italian restaurants in Munich. Most of the times the restaurants are way too overprized. Sometimes all I want to eat is a simple good plate of pasta, which I love to eat at Bar Centrale and at Timballo. I only had a good pizza twice in Munich – at Grano at Jakobsplatz and I love the pizza at Rossopomodoro at Eataly. I know, I’m super picky when it comes to Italian […]

I’ve completely forgotten to share this look with you. In fact, it’s a super old one from my trip to Japan earlier this year. Do you remember my posts about Okinawa? I miss Japan quite a lot and I’m planning a longer trip there next year. The culture has fascinated me so much and not to mention their food culture. The weather off season is usually great on Okinawa. Since […]
